Simple Scrapbooking- Part 3 How to create a scrapbook page?
Creating an elaborately decorated scrapbook album can be fun, but it’s not for everyone. A simple and classic scrapbook album will remain timeless and can be achieved by almost anyone.
Once you have chosen the photos you want to keep, organised them in groups and gathered the materials you need to make your scrapbook album (refer to my previous blogs), you are now ready to place these precious photos into your scrapbook album.
1. Select the photos and any memorabilia you want to put on the page.
2. Lay them out on the page so that they can be clearly seen. Leave room for journaling and/or a page title.
3. Consider adding some simple embellishments- a page border, mount a few photos, add a decorative journaling box. This step is totally optional; it will simply add interest to your page.
4. Adhere photos and other elements to your page using a safe and durable adhesive.
5. Add some journaling- Photos will mean more to future generations when you write something about them:
o Factual journaling- who, what, where, when, why
o Descriptive journaling- describe who the person is, what the place was like
o Personal journaling- your personal memories of that person or that day, what that person means to you?
A few more tips:
- Make sure all the photos on one page (or a double page to a view) are somehow related to each other eg the same day, the same person, the same family
- Don’t overcrowd the page with photos. Some ‘white space’ around photos makes them easier to see.
As the years go by, your family will treasure looking through these priceless albums whilst reading stories you have written.
